Maui Strong

Aloha,

On behalf of Tesla Club Hawaii, Tesla Club SoCal and Tesla Owners East Bay, we wanted to reach out, and share the follow up to our efforts to make a positive impact in the wake of the devastating Maui Wildfires we saw just a few short weeks ago. It’s been about a month since Hawaii’s biggest natural disaster in State history.
While the headlines and coverage have already begun to fade, we hope our small community worldwide will once again show how resilient we are in the meaningful ways we are intentional about doing good for our fellow humans.

IMPACT OF THE MAUI WILDFIRES
The impact of the fires on Maui is devastating and will be long lasting. Recovery will take years and the economic impact will be tremendous on the residents with homes, schools, businesses, places of worship, and jobs all lost. Maui's firefighters were among those who lost their homes while trying to put the fires out and guide people to safety.

On 9/3/23, the Lahaina fires were finally 100% contained after burning an estimated 2,170 acres.
The Kula and Orinda fires are 95% and 90% contained.
Confirmed fatalities: 115
Confirmed Unaccounted (FBI list): 385
Estimated Structures Damaged/Destroyed : 2,200+
Sheltered Population: 4,000+
Meals served each day to those impacted: 13,000+

There is still a need for non-perishable food, bottled water and toiletries. Connectivity has improved but is still an issue in many areas. The Clubs have donated a Starlink to the Salvation Army which will be an integral part of the outreach by providing internet access to remote or areas with low connectivity for their workers and mobile care center, as well as residents.
